Bailey regains his Puppy-Hood

I get a great deal of pleasure watching both dogs. Yesterday, Bailey took an old piece of bone and started playing with it as if it was a soccer ball, kicking it around the room, having a great time. I guess he was having a bit of puppy-hood that he missed before being rescued. Today he came to me, bone in mouth wanting to play. We ran around the room a few times then he would place the bone at my feet. Whenever I tried to grab the bone he would beat me to it and go off running again. Now he is outside wrestling and chasing/being chased with Harley.

But you cannot fool me twice ....

But you cannot fool me twice -- Next day same set up Bailey laying across my feet, Harley with the bone, he leaves it and starts to circle the coffee table, but Bailey gets up, grabs the bone and returns quickly to his position across my feet, bone in mouth before Harley could get there!

You can fool me once...

You can fool me once... Bailey was laying across my feet, a position Harley decided he wanted. He thus proceeded to get a bone and chew it a few feet from Bailey's face. He then put the bone down and walked away. Bailey immediately got up and grabbed the bone, leaving Harley free to claim my feet! Fool me twice ? Stay tuned.

Trip to the vets office

Today it was time to update the dogs shots, so off to the vet we went. They jumped into the truck with no problem, but after arriving, they had to investigate all the smells around the entrance. They pulled me over once, but I eventually regained a semblance of control and was able to get them inside. Usually thats where the problems start. The vet likes to keep several cats around the place, and of course, Bailey and Harley have to investigate. We managed to weigh each dog, both had gained some weight which they do not need. The rest of the visit went well except when I got the bill. Works out to be about $1.50 per pound of dog! Oh well, soup for a while (for me not the dogs!).

Alarm Clock

Who needs an alarm clock. You know one of those devices that flashes on 12.00 every time the power goes out. I have something much better - two wet cold noses with attached fans, and a gentle whimper. Ah, what a pleasant way to great the new day!

Rememberance Day

Today we remember all those who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our freedom. Man's best friend also made a contribution rescuing wounded soldiers from the battlefield during World War 1. St. Bernard's were sent in to the rescue efforts, and almost disappeared as a bread as a result. Newfoundlanders were sent in afterwards to ensure the breed survived. However, the war to end all wars, did not succeed. We are still fighting each other. May peace prosper, so that we do not have additional names to add to the list of those remembered.

Bailey decides to be a puppy!

Surprise. Normally Bailey ignores the bones scattered on the floor. Today he grabbed one in his mouth, tossed it in the air several times, pawed and chased it around the room and then proceeded to chew on it. This is the first time he has played like this since he joined this household. He finally gets to live the puppy hood b he missed!!!
